July's 2nd Stage Monday: Healing Arts
Have you heard of mandalas and Zentangles? Both are forms of "doodling" that can have a huge impact on your mind: it promotes relaxation, creativity, and imparts lessons on accepting and incorporating mistakes into our designs: a great metaphor for life after loss. They are often called a form of wordless journaling, and can be done anywhere, since the materials are so simple: just pen and paper!
Christi Center friend Wei-Li Huang will be leading our July 2nd Stage Monday activity to explore drawing and coloring (like a kid again!) mandalas and Zentangles. No art skills or experience needed, and participants will have their designs preserved into a book.
Join us Monday, July 13th at 7pm for "Meditative and Healing Art" and learn a new relaxing technique for adjusting to life after loss.
Kids Who Kare
Our Kids Who Kare group for ages 5-12 is going strong, with regular meetings throughout the summer. The Kids group features a concurrent meeting for the caregiver, addressing the needs of the whole family, because loss affects the whole family! Children in the Kids Who Kare group participate in activities designed to help them learn how to express their grief, because while the emotions are there, the vocabulary to express those ideas is still developing.
Groups meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month.
One of our families shared how the Kids Who Kare group has been helpful for them in this video:
