A U-Pass is a CTA (Chicago trains and buses) pass. The fee for the U-PASS is $163 (for four months, Jan. 7–May 30, 2025).
Students continuing from Fall 2024:
You will have the same U-Pass status that you had in the Fall. If you had a U-Pass, then you will get one again. If you didn’t have a U-Pass, you will not get one.
New Students:
You must opt-in (sign up for) a U-Pass If you want to opt-in, change, or check your U-Pass status for this Spring semester, go here. The CTA U-PASS is available for any student taking six or more credit hours.
Last day to opt in: February 2, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (After this date, you can NOT change your status and ask for a U-Pass. Please opt in this week!)
Pick up your U-Pass at SCE (Student Center East) at the ID office, using your iCard. It may take 6-8 days to receive your U-Pass after you opt-in, so do not expect it immediately, but go to the ID office to get a temporary bus pass. More U-Pass information.

If you had parking in Fall 2024, you will automatically have it in Spring 2025. If you do not want it, you must return your hangtag to end your parking.
If you want a parking pass for Spring 2025, read more>>. Scroll down to see the fee options. There is a pay by the day option, but it is not efficient for frequent parkers. If you need to drive only a few times check this out: Value Card Parking Program (pay by the day).

Once you find your classroom, make sure you walk around the building and familiarize yourself with the place: you will be spending a lot of time there!
In Addams Hall (AH), we have the Tutorium office (AH 105), where you can find the Tutorium front desk—where you can ask questions about anything related to your studies or your life in Chicago. We have classrooms in AH 104 and AH 110. On the second floor of AH, you can find the nearest restroom, hallway to Taft Hall (TH), the African American Culture Center (go say hi and admire art that they usually have there).

Email is the official form of communication at UIC. It is very important that you check your emails from UIC on a regular basis. Emails from the Tutorium (tutorium@uic.edu) and OIS (ois-tie@uic.edu) are especially important.
Pay careful attention to emails about your classes, immigration status, and insurance. Check your spam or junk mailbox.

MLK Day of Service is a day to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Since there is no class on Monday, January 20th, you can participate in a day of helping people in the community with other UIC students and faculty from 10:30 AM to 1:30PM. You'll have an opportunity to help with projects such as cleaning and organizing at Stone Temple Missionary Baptist Church, sorting donations for people experiencing homelessness and assisting with a winter coat drive.
If you would like to participate in this amazing opportunity, click here to sign up to let UIC know you are interested!
Watch this video to hear about other UIC students' experience participating in MLK Day of service.
