Interpretive Volunteer Updates

Dear Volunteers,

February is just around the corner and we have some upcoming enrichments that I hope you will join us for such as Developing the Gardens' Interpretive Master Plan on February 7, the Book Group featuring Gathering Moss on February 8, and the Nature Journaling Meet-up on February 12 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm.

In addition, the Conservatory of Flowers reopened to visitors this past Thursday, January 25, after the annual maintenance closure. As you return to the Conservatory, you may notice that a new set of stairs was installed for the volunteer trailer and that scaffolding is still currently installed in the Highland Tropics Gallery and will remain in place for approximately one week after the reopening.

Developing the Gardens' Interpretive Master PlanWednesday, February 7, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pmZoom event

The Director of Programs and Partnerships, Jamie Chan, and Engagement Manager, Sarah Sawtelle, will lead a presentation about the Gardens' recent Institute of Museum and Library Services grant to develop our Interpretive Master Plan. Join Jamie and Sarah to see what we have learned and hear our plans for the future.

Meet-up: Nature JournalingMonday, February 12, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pmLibrary Terrace, Botanical Garden

All volunteers are invited to an informal meet-up group focused on nature journaling. Bring a notebook and supplies and join fellow volunteers for this group inspired by Wild Wonder Foundation. To help you prepare, download their Quick Start Guide to Natural Journaling zine.

Garden Guides Spring Training SessionFive Tuesdays from February 20 - March 19, 9:30 am - 12:30 pmIn-person

Would you like to join our vibrant community of Garden Guides who help welcome and engage with children at the Gardens? This is your chance to join our wonderful community of volunteers focused on working with some of our youngest visitors. The initial round of applications will receive a response by February 1 so we recommend that you complete your application by January 31 for early review.

As we look towards February, you're invited to join us for an all ages celebration of the Lunar New Year! Even if you cannot join us for this event, please help share the news that the Gardens will be hosting a Lunar Celebration on Sunday, February 11 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm in the Country Fair Building Auditorium. We are excited to offer a wide range of offerings for the event such as calligraphy, origami, and dancing to welcome spring.
