Announcing the 2024-2025 All Americans
Each year, the top student point earners in the country are named All Americans. The All American award is based on a combination of competitive and service points, of which no more than 25% of the point total can include service. In order to qualify, a student must have competed once at Nationals. Join us in congratulating the 2024-2025 All Americans!

Encourage Students to Submit Legislation for Nationals
Any middle or high school student who is an NSDA member—whether or not they’ve qualified for Nationals—can submit legislation for consideration in the 2026 National Tournament Docket. This is a great project for advanced Congress students to work on while you teach novices!
Students whose legislation is selected for the Nationals Docket will be featured in Rostrum, receive an award after the tournament, and earn a $100 scholarship. Submissions are due February 5.

Pitching Sponsorship to Businesses
As you consider funding sources for this school year, consider offering team sponsorship packages in exchange for special promotional opportunities. Local businesses in your area may be looking for more exposure in the community through supporting a great cause like speech and debate. When you're ready to reach out, use this template letter from a student to connect!

Teaching Audience Adaptation
In lesson 12 of Start Here: Teaching Lincoln-Douglas Debate, students learn audience adaptation by practicing marketing a vacuum (or other item of your choosing) to various audiences. In groups, students draw a card with an audience (teenagers, senior citizens, etc.) and have 10 minutes to prepare a two- to four-minute commercial. At the end of the lesson, students reflect on what were the most effective arguments and why. All the units in the Start Here series are included with your NSDA membership.

Celebrate Community Members Making a Positive Impact
Faces in the Crowd is a reoccurring feature in Rostrum magazine that highlights members of our community who, through their actions, attitudes, and leadership, serve as gentle reminders that the speech and debate community is a kind and caring environment. Help us celebrate them by submitting a nomination for Faces in the Crowd today!

Learn from National Champions

Learning directly from national champions is a great way for students to think about their events differently or pick up new strategies. Encourage interested students to register to attend our next two Champion Q&A sessions to ask their questions directly, or explore past sessions for their events!
