On Nov. 3, The University of Tulsa’s own TUTV Media Lab produced an Election Night special chronicling the 2020 U.S. election. Media studies senior Ryan Bennett documents the hard work, camaraderie and adrenaline-fueled excitement.

Feeling flushed – with pride
Operating remotely, TU’s chapter of Engineers Without Borders USA recently led the implementation of a latrine/shower project in Bolivia to help provide sanitation to a small agricultural community. “It’s awesome to know that I'm contributing to such a good cause,” said Nathan Weiskopf, the student team leader. “This opportunity has stressed the importance of doing good for others without expecting anything in return.”

The Oklahoma Center for the Humanities invites you to join us for a conversation with André Carrington, associate professor of African American literature at the University of California-Riverside, and Rebecca Wanzo, chair of the Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, for a discussion about representations of race in The Watchmen and beyond. Two of TU’s first-year writing courses are studying All the Weight of Our Dreams: On Living Racialized Autism. During this event, anthology co-editors Lydia X. Z. Brown and Morénike Giwa Onaiwu, along with contributor Angel McCorkle and Autistic Women and Nonbinary Network Founding Executive Director Sharon DaVanport, will discuss the collection, share brief readings from it and respond to student questions submitted in advance. Vocal recital Tuesday, Nov. 17, 7:30 p.m.
The School of Music invites you to hear tenor Celyn Grigson at his Junior Vocal Recital at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 302 S. Ninth St., Broken Arrow. Grigson is a student of Professor of Choral Studies and Voice Kim Childs and will be assisted by Professor Brady McElligott at the piano. COVID-19 precautions will be observed at the recital, and all attendees will be required to wear a mask.

TU's Community Lecture Series invites you to a live virtual conversation with Chapman Assistant Professor of Media Studies Emily Contois, who will discuss themes from her new book, Diners, Dudes, and Diets: How Gender and Power Collide in Food Media and Culture. In a talk brimming with fresh insights about contemporary American food media and culture, Contois will show how the gendered world of food production and consumption has influenced the way we eat and how food itself is central to the contest over our identities.
