Dear Volunteers,
We hope that you've been having a great fall season and enjoying autumn in the Gardens! Thank you for all that you do. Please see below for upcoming enrichments and events, as well as general volunteer shifts.
This October we celebrated Indigenous People's Day on Monday, October 14. We acknowledge that the Gardens of Golden Gate Park sit on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone who are the original peoples of the San Francisco Peninsula. We recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland, and we affirm their sovereign rights as first peoples. Dedicated to connecting people to plants, the planet, and each other, the Gardens uphold the significance of this cherished and revered place that celebrates Earth’s biological diversity in supporting the health and well-being of all people and the planet.
We have our Fall Potluck coming up early in November - we hope you will be able to join us! See more information below.

Jamie Chan will be leaving her role as Director of Programs and Partnerships on November 3. Jamie has enjoyed her time at the Gardens and will still be an active member of our community. From leading two record breaking Flower Piano festivals, to expanding and diversifying our partnerships and public programs, we celebrate and are grateful for Jamie's many accomplishments. Join us in giving Jamie well wishes on her journey to Planet Bee as the Executive Director! Planet Bee Foundation's mission is to create a green-minded generation by teaching about the importance of bees as a pathway to STEM and conservation, cultivating the green leaders of tomorrow through the power of science and stewardship. For one last chance to see Jamie, join us at Gifts at the Garden, where Jamie will return to help us lead the event! Working with the volunteers here has been a true highlight of her time at the Gardens. Jamie can be reached at her email, or connect with her on Linkedin.
Lindzy Bivings has joined the Programs and Partnerships team as Interpretive Manager! Lindzy is excited to implement our new Interpretive Master Plan and use her skills in leading collaborative teams and building programs. Over the past 20 years, she has worked in nature-based cultural institutions across the Bay Area including the California Academy of Sciences, Lawrence Hall of Science, the Bay Area Discovery Museum, and the Maritime National Park Association. In the past year, Lindzy has been learning to collect arachnids and lasso lizards and experimenting with propagating succulents in the tiny lightwell of her apartment with her 6-year-old. Please welcome Lindzy when you see her around the gardens!
Horticulture team member Jeremiah (J!) has accepted a position with Camp Mather. Congrats, J! Eli Groshelle will be filling in for J and leading his Green Team until January. Additionally, GG was promoted to Park Section Supervisor, and will be leaving the Gardens on November 6. Congrats, GG! We'll miss both of these incredible horticulture folks and wish them well on their next steps.

Through the leadership of our Board Member Don Baldocchi, who chairs the board of Pacific Horticulture, their organization made the decision to take down its paywall after a review of strategic alternatives. Pacific Horticulture’s mission is to advocate for the garden and its power to enrich lives and heal the environment. All content and resources are now available for free; learn more here.
