He came to us just last Sunday...
Dear Friend:
A car pulled up our driveway, just last Sunday, with a little 3 week old pup.  Eyes barely open and barely alive.  Anxious owner didn't know what else to do to save his life.  Rejected by his mama, the owner kept finding this little pup in a hole in the backyard.  Could we help?
Larry brought the little baby inside - he was barely moving.  It had been quite awhile since we've had one so little - 'where's the bottles?,  don't we gotta boil those? - where's the formula?  - he needs a bath, he's covered in fleas. Finally, after a bath, and a feeding, the little guy was down for a restful sleep.
Stroking his little sleeping body I prayed that he would make it. I asked Larry what should we name him?? But we both heartbreakingly  knew it was too soon.  He had already been through so much in his short life, and odds were not in his favor, but ohhhhh what a will to live and we would soon learn -  a warrior spirit was in the little tiny body.
Phoenix getting stronger each day!
UPDATE
Wow, what a difference a week has made for this little guy.  He has gotten so strong, eating now every 3 hours - downing a whole bottle in one sitting.  He's has found his voice and lets you know when there is something he needs. We have found him to be a brave little pup, overcoming such great odds - just to be alive.  Rising up out of his troubled beginnings - We could think of no better name than...Phoenix.
Our Volunteers have taken such good pictures and lent a helping hand to little Phoenix.
Thank you Susan for this great photo taken at the vet. Anxious owner had gone into DAC looking for advise and how wonderful to run into one of our own volunteers.
Thank you Janice for feeding Phoenix and loving him so.
Would just like to thank all of our supporters. Because of all your love and support to us, we had everything we needed on hand.  Bottles, formula, etc.to save a precious little one in his hour of need.
Thank you for helping the homeless!
