Empowering learners through literacy.

|
The Spring to Summer transition reminds us of the beauty of growth. Just as nature flourishes, so too can individuals transform through literacy. Reading, writing, speaking, and listening are not just skills; they are pathways to connection and understanding, true sources of personal growth.
We're still working hard to serve our over 430 active learners, and make space for some of the 600 adults from the Nashville area on our waitlist.
Embrace the spirit of growth this Spring.

Meet Crystal Gimesh, Adult Basic Education Tutor Program Manager
|
What do you enjoy in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, canoeing, and exploring abandoned buildings, I am a devoted dog owner of a badly behaved boxer mix, named June Bug, and an avid supporter of local animal shelters and rescue organizations. If I won the lottery tomorrow, one of the first philanthropic donations I would make would be to fully fund and staff an animal shelter for Hickman County, which has been in desperate need of one for years.
Thank you, Crystal, for your commitment to this work!

A Spring Poem from one of our ELL Classes
|
NALC ELL Learners Debby, Isabel, Luis, Magdalena, Nora, Poliane, Rose, and Thierry wrote a poem together in honor of National Poetry Month! It's a diamante, a great way to practice parts of speech, and looks like a diamond shape.
We're so impressed by the growth of our learners. In the past few months, some have earned a drivers license, gotten a new job, applied for citizenship, and more!
Thank you for supporting this vital work.

Congratulations Casa Azafrán on your new Little Library!
|
Our Nashville neighbors Aventura Community School recently donated a Little Free Library to Conexión Américas.
Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota, focused on building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a global network of volunteer-led Little Free Library book-exchange boxes.
Stop by Casa Azafrán and take a book/leave a book!

| Did you know Mayor Freddie O'Connell is invested in a transportation improvement plan for Nashville? The plan focuses on sidewalks, signals, service, and safety, and will also include public transportation service 24 hours a day for the first time ever!
We serve learners from all across Metro Nashville. Learners who live in one part of the city and work in another. Who spend countless hours in traffic or waiting for public transportation. Transit improves access to the world much the same as language does, and we're excited to see how transit can better unite the city.
