Door County 4-H Newsletter |
Hello Door County 4-H Families and Volunteers!
I hope you are all enjoying the start to your summer. I know for many of you, summer is busy and full of new (and hopefully fun) things. And the start of the Door County Fair is only two months away! A lot of work is already happening to make this summer and Fair an amazing time.
In this newsletter, you will find Fair related information, State 4-H Dog Obedience and Showmanship Show Entry information and National 4-H Congress information.
Please also note the change in our Extension Door County Office hours for the summer. Our office will now be open Tuesday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. If you need something outside of these hours, please email me or call to schedule an appointment. I am sometimes in the office on days that it is closed, but I encourage you to call or email first to be sure.
I hope you all enjoy this beautiful weather and your summer!

At the beginning of June, we welcomed Josie Kinnard to the Extension Door County Office! Due to some issues with AmeriCorps funding, Josie was brought on as a Positive Youth Development Intern at the beginning of June. Some changes have since happened at the State level and she will be moving into the AmeriCorps member position (what she was initially hired for) on June 15th. We are excited to have Josie with us this summer and hope that many of you will get a chance to meet her at some point! Her role is to help expand the capacity of our 4-H program and to help reach more youth. She will be helping Candis with programming at the Boys & Girls Club, planning for future workshops and events, and helping during the Fair. We look forward to this summer and appreciate the flexibility and dedication that Josie has shown already!

State 4-H Dog Obedience and Showmanship |
Information was emailed out to Door County 4-H members enrolled in the Dog Project. If you are interested in participating at the State 4-H Dog Obedience and Showmanship show, entries are due to the Extension Door County Office by Thursday, July 3rd. We need to have enough time to ensure everything is correct and mail it in before the State deadline.
This year's show will be held on September 27-28 at the Langlade Co. Fairgrounds in Antigo, WI.
Members should talk to the Door County 4-H Dog Leaders to ensure that you are entering in the correct categories. Information will also be available at the next 4-H Dog Training session on Wednesday, June 18th.
Information on the event and the entry form can be found here: https://4h.extension.wisc.edu/opportunities/statewide-events-and-opportunities/state-4-h-dog-obedience-and-showmanship-show/

- IMPORTANT: Premise ID Registration and Renewal: If you are planning to exhibit animals at the Fair, be sure that you have a Premise ID. This is REQUIRED for all exhibitors of beef, dairy, sheep, swine, horse, poultry and goats.
-
A Premise ID is completely free to obtain and is mandatory for all owners of livestock in Wisconsin. Premises registration allows for much faster traces when there is an outbreak of an animal disease or an animal-borne human disease.
-
Take care of this important step now so you are ready at Fair time! If you already have a Premise ID, check to make sure that it does not need to be renewed this year.
-
Visit https://wiid.org/premises-registration-renewal/ to obtain a Premise ID and for answers to additional questions.
