Staff Council: Voting Member Nominations Process Open

Staff Council is composed of 32-50 voting members, each serving two-year terms. Staff Council voting members are crucial to fulfilling Staff Council’s mission/goals.

We are looking for our newest group of voting members, and need your help. Nominate a friend/colleague today.

Staff Council voting member nominations will take place throughout September 2023.

The deadline to submit a nomination is October 1, 2023, by 4:59 p.m.

Community Partner Bus Tour with Operation Breakthrough: Oct. 4, 3:30 - 5 p.m.

Join us on an interactive, multi-stop tour that showcases the work of several nonprofits working in our community. UMKC staff, students, and faculty will meet with several of Operation Breakthrough's courageous and resilient parents, as well as community leaders working for other area nonprofits on some of the city's most challenging issues. Seating is limited and registration is required. Reserve your spot by emailing Nate Addington at naddington@umkc.edu.

Participants will be picked up in the circle drive outside the Administrative Center (AC) at 3:30 p.m. and returned to the same location as close to 5:00 p.m. as possible.

Beyond the Human Factor

Art Show: Nov. 7, 5 - 7 p.m., Diastole Scholars Center

The Sirridge Office of Medical Humanities and Bioethics and the UMKC Staff Council Engagement Committee are hosting an event to showcase artwork, photography, and poetry of UMKC students, staff, and faculty. Join us for an evening to celebrate the arts and enjoy free refreshments.

If you would like to share your artwork, photography, musical talents, or sign up for the poetry reading for this event, please contact Jennifer Lyles-Maqsood (UMKC Staff Council). You do not have to have been published in the Human Factor magazine to share your talents.

Divine Nine Gardens Unveiling: Sept. 9, 10:30 a.m., Quad (Volker Campus)

Join us on Sept. 9 for the Divine Nine Gardens Unveiling. This dedicated space will honor and recognize the nine Black Greek-letter organizations that make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council, also known as the Divine Nine. The Divine Nine Gardens will also serve as a gathering place for students and alumni to meet, celebrate, host events, and reflect on the importance and achievements of their respective organizations.

Pickleball Tournament to Benefit Kansas City Women's Basketball: Sept. 10, 4 - 7 p.m.

Kansas City Women’s Basketball is having their inaugural Pickleball tournament fundraiser, Sept. 10, 4-7 p.m., at Chicken N' Pickle Overland Park. There will be a silent auction and cash prize for the winner of the tournament. Register on the Battle @ the Net registration website.
