Coronavirus (COVID19) Office Update and Safety Precautions

It is our responsibility at Tierra Antigua Realty to ensure that we are aware, monitoring and informing our Tierra Antigua Family regarding the Coronavirus (COVID19) and safety precautions.

Our focus is to be proactive and to stay on top of the latest information to best serve our Realtor community.

Our purpose is to do our part to adhere to the following recommendations (below) and implement processes and procedures to keep us all safe.

Our goal is to provide a workplace that is healthy and to do our best to protect the well-being of our Tierra Antigua Family and our community.

Currently all offices are open and operating at full capacity including scheduled Orientation, classes and meetings, however, please note that we need to work together to ensure the safety of all. Any person who is sick or may be sick is restricted from all offices until otherwise noted. The concern is not contracting (COVID19) as this is a rare yet growing illness with many unknowns, it’s that we are looking to protect the health and well-being of all under any circumstances.

Thankfully, Tierra Antigua has everything we need online. However, should you need assistance that would require something from the office, please reach out to our amazing staff and we will do whatever we can to assist.
Prevention Policy:
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, or cough/sneeze into your sleeve.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, covering all surfaces of your hands and rubbing them together until they feel dry.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Clean all “high-touch” surfaces everyday!!
  • Stay home if you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath or any other cold or flu-like symptom!
Important Notes:
  • Washing Hands thoroughly and frequently is key!
  • Remember: We have control over our exposure to most germs.
  • Please stay home if you're feeling unwell, we will do everything we can to help facilitate your business.
  • Instead of shaking hands let's start giving each other a Tierra Antigua Peace Sign!
We will modify our approach as new information indicates, though we are positive that with these basic and common-sense precautions we can continue to conduct business as normally as possible and serve our community with the same integrity and enthusiasm as always!
FAQ’s for Realtors:

May I ask clients or others I interact with in my real estate business if they have traveled recently, or have any signs of respiratory illness?

Yes, you may ask clients or others about their recent travel, particularly to areas having an increased risk of coronavirus. To avoid potential fair housing issues, be sure to ask all clients the same screening questions based on current, factual information from public health authorities.

I typically drive my clients to showings. May I refuse to drive potential clients to see homes?

Yes. However, be sure that any change to your business practices is applied equally to all clients. You may refuse to drive clients who show signs of illness or reveal recent travel to areas of increased risk of coronavirus, or you may instead stop driving clients in your car altogether, and arrange to meet clients at a property. If you do continue to drive clients in your car, frequently clean and disinfect door handles and seat belt latches, ask clients to use hand sanitizer when getting in and out of your car.

What unique issues does coronavirus present to the real estate industry?

When an infectious disease, such as coronavirus, is associated with a specific population or nationality, fear and anxiety may lead to social stigma and potential discrimination. REALTORS® must be mindful of their obligations under the Fair Housing Act, and be sure not to discriminate against any particular segment of the population. While the coronavirus outbreak began in Wuhan, China, that does not provide a basis for treating Chinese persons or persons of Asian descent differently.

The CDC reports that most people in the United States do not have an immediate risk of exposure to the virus. However, the situation is rapidly evolving, and the CDC will update its risk assessment as needed.
