Preds and NHL to build ball hockey rink for Nashville Inner City Ministry

Before the puck dropped at Nissan Stadium on Feb. 26, the Preds Foundation and NHL announced that they will build a new ball hockey rink for Nashville Inner City Ministry. Nashville Inner City Ministry serves approximately 600 kids and families through after-school programs, life skills classes and more.

Additionally, 400 kids received street hockey kits and two tickets to the outdoor game! We are excited to continue growing the game of hockey in Nashville!

Black Hockey History museum visits SMASHVILLE

During the weekend of the Stadium Series, SMASHVILLE also hosted the NHL Black Hockey History Tour presented by American Legacy! The museum visited Tennessee State University, then made its way to Bridgestone Arena. The museum "featured exhibits that highlighted past, current, and future black hockey players, grassroots organizations committed to growing the game and women who have impacted hockey." Also featured were jerseys and informational posters of former black Preds players Seth Jones, Wayne Simmonds, P.K. Subban and Joel Ward.

Pekka Rinne luncheon raises nearly $70,000 for 365 Fund

On the eve of his retirement ceremony, we hosted the Pekka Rinne Retirement Celebration presented by King Jewelers and Grand Hyatt. The festivities included a delicious lunch followed by a roundtable discussion with Rinne and Preds broadcasters Hal Gill and Chris Mason. Rinne shared memorable moments from his career in Nashville. The lunch also featured music from former Hockey Fights Cancer ambassador Ava Paige and a live painting by Preston Mitchell. Nearly $70,000 was raised for the 365 Fund, which Rinne and former Preds captain Shea Weber created in the 2013-14 season.

Pekka Rinne's number raised to Bridgestone Arena rafters

On Feb. 24, Pekka Rinne's number was retired and raised to the rafters of Bridgestone Arena! The pregame ceremony celebrated all of the incredible achievements Rinne made both on and off the ice. We thank Rinne for the enormous impact he made in SMASHVILLE. The relationships he made with so many in Nashville are lifelong. Thank you, Pekka Rinne, for your heart of GOLD and congratulations on your retirement!

Stadium Series rocks SMASHVILLE

The first outdoor NHL game in Tennessee is in the books! It was a historic day in SMASHVILLE! The Preds took on the Tampa Bay Lightning in front of a sold-out crowd at Nissan Stadium. Thank you Preds fans for your support and for being a part of this amazing experience!

In addition to the Stadium Series festivities, the Preds Foundation hosted the Smash Boat, a new take on our annual playoff tradition of the Smash Car. The boat, painted in Tampa Bay Lightning colors, was SMASHED by Preds fans. Funds raised from donations benefitted the Preds Foundation.

Hearts of Gold spotlight

Our Preds staff love getting out into the community and volunteering! Each full-time staff member is encouraged to volunteer at least 40 hours of service throughout the course of each season with a company-wide goal of serving 8,000 hours per year! Last month, we visited Backfield in Motion to help pack and deliver bags of goodies for senior citizens in Nashville. Diaper Drive with Tanner Jeannot

This month, Tanner Jeannot and his wife Keely are hosting a Diaper Drive benefitting Mother to Mother. The drive takes place on Tuesday, March 8 before the game versus the Dallas Stars. Fans can drop diapers off at any Bridgestone Arena entrance before the game. Tanner, Keely and the Preds Foundation will match donations up to $5,000.
