New ‘Top Docs’ highlights Smyrna’s efforts to combat COVID-19
The latest edition of the Medical Association of Georgia’s (MAG) ‘Top Docs’ show features Derek Norton – MAG’s director of Government Relations and the mayor of Smyrna – discussing Smyrna’s efforts to combat and manage the COVID-19 outbreak.

Before joining MAG, Norton spent six years on U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson’s staff. He also served as the Georgia Apartment Association’s governmental affairs director for 10 years. Before he was elected as mayor at the end of 2019, Norton served on Smyrna’s City Council for four years. Norton has a B.B.A. from the University of Georgia. He lives in Smyrna with his wife, Laura Norton, and their two children.
Between downloads and live listeners, ‘Top Docs’ has now reached nearly 850,000 listeners and viewers – which includes people in all 50 states and more than 80 countries. MAG has won two awards for the show, including an American Association of Medical Society Executives Profiles of Excellence Award and a Health Information Resource Center Digital Health Award.
‘Top Docs’ is supported with a grant from Alliant Health Solutions in memory of Tom Williams, its former CEO.
