City of Tallahassee Utilities Recognized for Reliability and Leadership

This week, the City of Tallahassee Electric & Gas Utility was honored by the Florida Municipal Power Agency for delivering enhanced reliability to its customers. The City received two Florida Public Power Reliability Awards, including the Momentum Award, which recognizes the utility with the greatest percentage decrease in annual average outage duration. Additionally, the City was recognized for achieving a reduction of 10% or more in annual outage duration.

County Awarded for Programs Promoting Economic Mobility & Resilience
|
|
|
TEAM Leon, in the category of Risk and Emergency Management, provided timely and targeted financial relief to individuals and businesses affected by the tornado outbreak on May 10, 2024. A total of 472 recipients received financial assistance, including 53 businesses. The ability to retain employees and resume operations for these local businesses helped prevent prolonged economic distress within affected areas, fostering long-term community stability.
Affordable Housing and Home Buyer Support Initiative, in the category of Community and Economic Development, leverages public-private partnerships, state and federal funding, and local resources to increase affordable housing opportunities, encouraging the addition of over 1,200 affordable rental units and successfully implementing the Homeownership Development Program. Leon County’s commitment to inclusivity and fostering economic mobility is demonstrated by its focus on historically marginalized neighborhoods and the integration of community voices into decisions, enabling first-time homeownership for low-income families.
