Music City Center
Spring 2018

Five years ago this month, we opened the doors to the Music City Center. And five years in, to say that the Music City Center is a success story would be a vast understatement. Our unprecedented success is only possible because of leaders across our city who had the vision and foresight to invest in the meetings and convention industry and the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make it happen. But the people who deserve the most credit are the citizens of Nashville: a community that supports our efforts, believes in our mission and trusts in our future.  With your support, we have brought millions of people to Nashville, generating significant economic impact for our city while remaining committed to our community partnerships, diverse business practices and sustainability. Our team members work every day to fulfill our mission to serve you, and we are grateful for your faith in us.

Get Food Smart TN

The Music City Center is proud to be an inaugural participant of the newly debuted Get Food Smart TN. This statewide, voluntary program from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Office of Policy and Sustainable Practices recognizes those who are committed to food conscious actions. The goal of the campaign is to encourage all Tennesseans to be involved in reducing food waste, and to lead the charge on enhancing the sustainability of Tennessee’s food resources. We are excited to be a part of this campaign and to encourage other entities to engage in food waste reduction, recovery, and/or diversion.

Earth Week

The Music City Center staff recently celebrated our planet with Earth Week, a week-long set of activities to engage in sustainability practices. Every day of the week had a different theme with a corresponding trivia contest, workplace activity, and prize. Each morning, the day’s theme, topics to think about, activities, and trivia question were sent out in an email and posted to a back-of-house bulletin board in order to encourage staff to incorporate sustainability in their personal lifestyle. The themes of the week were reuse, recycling, transportation, food waste, and conservation.

Diversity Business Enterprise (DBE) Events

The Music City Center hosted the Small & Diverse Business Forum in February. The event was a collaborative effort between the Music City Center, the Nashville Chamber of Commerce and First Tennessee Bank with Google Fiber hosting the luncheon. The interactive forum connected small, diverse businesses with major employers. The morning began with a welcome from the hosts, followed by panels of experts in the healthcare and information technology sectors. Attendees heard from successful minority-owned business leaders, decision makers from large organizations and buyers/suppliers.

The Music City Center is also hosting a Proposal 101 Workshop on May 23 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. The informative, interactive learning session will outline our RFP process step by step and includes valuable tips and resources from the Procurement Technical Assistance Center and the Nashville Business Incubation Center.

>> If interested, please RSVP here by May 17.
