SCHOOL NOTES FROM MRS. WOODMAN
Dear Families and Friends,
Our young CKS scientists have been productive this spring! STEM Fair projects from over sixty students represented a broad array of topics, including plants, soil, dog drool and paw prints, food dyes, bacteria, the science of cupcakes, parachutes, and friction, among others. I am very proud of these students’ efforts and curiosity about the world around them. Thank you to the parents and teachers who inspired them and supported their investigations. I especially want to thank Adelaide Ness who helped set up the projects and acquire prizes. Winners will be announced on Friday.
We have an exciting new summer camp offering for CKS students! Since our after school drawing class has been so popular, Young Rembrandts has teamed up with Habitat Yoga, Mr. Bond, and Stirrin Up Some Love to offer three weeks in June and July with combinations of art, yoga, science, and cooking right here in our parish center. Each camp is different so students could attend just one or all three. Science is included in the first, cooking in second and third, with art and yoga at all three camps. Get in on the fun! Mrs. Wyatt and Mrs. Vance have been in Cincinnati this week representing our faculty at the National Catholic Education Association Annual Convention. This is an opportunity for them to explore new instructional ideas and products with thousands of fellow Catholic educators who share a mission of helping students grow in faith and knowledge. We will welcome them back tomorrow and hear what impressions they have to share with their colleagues.
Please keep Mrs. Dunton (Pre-K assistant) in your prayers as she recovers from carpal tunnel surgery on her hands. Her surgery went well yesterday and she is recovering at home the rest of the week. We look forward to having her back next week.
Iowa Assessments begin Monday. Please help your students arrive at school rested, relaxed, and on time. See teacher newsletters for details about a specific class.
I look forward to seeing many parents this evening for our spring Gathering in the Grotto hosted by our industrious and hospitable Home and School officers. For everyone’s comfort we are moving inside to the Student Commons due to the chilly temperature forecasted.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sherry Woodman
Principal
PARISH NOTE: The annual Parish Easter Egg Hunt has been rescheduled for this Sunday, April 8, at 4:00p. Babies through PreK will gather in front of the school. K-4 will gather on the sidewalk on the Marian side of the church. See you there!
