Things are heating up this summer and so is Longwood from Home! From a lively Members-only Hours event to a lovely in-person Member Orientation, we hope you’re making your plans to join us at Longwood for all our Festival of Fountains season has to offer. Read on for details on our Members-only webinar recording, Members-only webinar on dahlias, a new Longwood paint-by-number… and more!

Pick Longwood for the Splashiest Getaway

Find a starlit getaway Thursday through Saturday evenings with our unforgettable Illuminated Fountain Performances, as water of all shapes, sizes, and colors dances along to music in our Main Fountain Garden. A deliciously fun getaway beckons in our Beer Garden, featuring Victory Brewing Company, where live instrumental music from traditional Celtic tunes to Caribbean steel pan grooves sets the tone Thursday through Saturday evenings. After a day of fun, take home a garden memento from our newly reopened Garden Shop and its diverse array of indoor and outdoor plants, hand-selected home décor products, must-have gardening essentials, and one-of-a-kind selections from local artisans. Member reservations are only required beginning at 3 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays through October 30, 2021 (except for Gardens Premium Member).

Enjoy Members-only Hours

Don’t miss the last Members-only Hours event this season! On September 12 from 69 pm, join us for a Members-only concert in our Orchard, delight in an Illuminated Fountain Performance, and dine under the stars in our Beer Garden. During this exclusive evening, dance along to lively Latin fusion courtesy of De Tierra Caliente at 6:30 pm followed by our Bailando: Latin Rhythms Illuminated Fountain Performance at 8 pm. Member reservations are required starting at 3 pm, except for Gardens Premium Members. Reservations are limited, sell out is likely. Please bring your own chairs and blankets, which may be set up beginning at 5 pm, for the concert.

Discover Dahlias

Dahlias are a summer darling. With their gorgeous, lush, long-lasting blooms and show-stopping color, they can be a welcome addition to your garden landscape. Join us on September 1 at 12 pm as our Outdoor Landscape Manager Roger Davis and Owner of the Farm at Oxford Mara Tyler share their passion for dahlias. Learn about their care, including harvesting beautiful blooms, easy plant staking solutions, and winterizing and storage best practices; hear their personal favorites; and ask your own dahlia questions.

Mark Your Calendars

Members are invited to join Longwood staff on September 11 at 10:30 am or 12 pm for an in-person introduction to our Gardens and discover all your Membership has to offer. Learn more about your Member benefits, visiting tips, and the history of Longwood. Afterward, enjoy a fun Gardens activity! The orientation will be held  in the Visitor Center Auditorium (accessed through The Garden Shop).

Paint a Longwood Waterlily

Pull out those paints and get creative with our new paint-by-number activity! Create your own beautiful waterlily from the comfort of your home.

Explore The Beauty of Perennial Edibles

If you were unable to join us for our July 28 Members-only webinar, The Beauty of Perennial Edibles with Horticulturist Alex Correia-Sareyka (or if you’d like to experience it again), we invite you to view this in-depth discussion about how our redesigned Ornamental Kitchen Garden incorporates more perennials and woody plants. From berries to greens to artichokes and more, learn Alex’s favorites and how to grow them at home, and discover what you can see—including the many selections currently being tested—when you visit our Ornamental Kitchen Garden.
