With Mother's Day around the corner, we’re honored to introduce you to Marcela. As a mother experiencing homelessness, Marcela faced unimaginable challenges while doing everything she could to protect and care for her son, Alex. Through the support of LA Family Housing (LAFH), she found safety, stability, healing, and ultimately a place to call home for her family. Her journey is a powerful reminder of the strength of mothers and the impact that compassionate support can have on a family’s future.

Lowe’s Helps Transform North Hollywood Apartments for Residents Rebuilding Their Lives |
April may have been Volunteer Appreciation Month, but at LAFH, we celebrate and appreciate the hundreds of volunteers who make our work possible all year long—from people who generously donate their time and skills, to corporate partners who bring resources and teams of volunteers to tackle larger needs.
One example of this critical support took place on a recent Friday in April, when more than 20 Lowe’s associates from eight local stores arrived at the Klump Apartments in North Hollywood with a clear mission: to bring some much-needed improvements and TLC to the property, which is home to people rebuilding their lives after experiencing homelessness.

Volunteers on a Mission to Improve Financial Literacy |
|
|
|
Many LAFH volunteers find ways to put their passion into action—like Yanira Giron and Mark Chandler, who use their decades of professional experience to provide financial literacy education to low-income families and individuals across Los Angeles through Bank of America’s Better Money Habits program. “I found my purpose through Bank of America in volunteering. And I found my volunteering purpose in LA Family Housing, which is to serve the unhoused community,” says Yanira. “That to me is what a perfect match is. I feel whole when I am here, when I do this.”

Unapologetically Devoted - Noemi |
In honor of Women’s History Month in March, LAFH focused on the theme Unapologetically Her to recognize and celebrate the many ways women show up in the world—including the extraordinary strength and devotion of women who hold families together through unimaginable challenges. Women like Noemi embody that truth. Her story is not only one of loss, but of resilience, courage, and unwavering love for her grandchildren—making her unapologetically devoted.

Something as simple as a soft, clean towel can make a powerful difference—turning everyday routines into moments of stability and self-worth. Your donation helps ensure our clients have the essentials they need to truly feel at home.

Volunteers are needed to make sack lunches for LAFH's outreach team to bring to people living in encampments and on the street. In making these sack lunches, you are helping our outreach team to build the trust needed to provide further assistance. Your contributions will help our unhoused neighbors leave with a full stomach and an even fuller heart.
