USAID and Partners Celebrate Successful First Year of Accelerating Efforts to End Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis (TB) is a daunting foe, killing 1.5 million people each year. To combat the world’s most lethal infectious disease, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) created the Global Accelerator to End TB. The new business model is designed to increase investments from the public and private sectors to end the TB epidemic, while simultaneously building local commitment and capacity to achieve the goals set forth at the 2018 United Nations General Assembly High Level Meeting on TB. USAID Administrator Mark Green gave an update on the Accelerator’s progress, and country-level partners shared how they are working to end the epidemic.
