Meet the exceptional new faculty joining us this fall!
It is my honor to greet you as interim dean of the Vanderbilt College of Arts and Science. I’ve spent my entire career at Vanderbilt and served in various roles within the university community during that time. Over the coming year, I look forward to supporting and advancing the groundbreaking discoveries happening across the college as we collaboratively tackle society’s biggest challenges.
This month, we welcome to our community 35 esteemed new faculty members and 1,439 talented new students. The students’ energy as they arrive on campus is palpable, and fuels us every day as we educate these inspiring future leaders. I look forward to working with you all over the next year and appreciate your continued partnership and support.

Co-led by Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy Stephen Taylor, scientists detected a low-pitch hum of gravitational waves—a pulse that now allows us to track space-time in a measurable and more precise way.
Despite the blistering heat, students returned to campus with renewed energy and excitement about the academic year ahead! See more back-to-school photos on Instagram.
