May 15 Staff Council Professional Development Conference and Appreciation Lunch: Priority Registration Ends Today, May 9

Staff Council will host its annual professional development conference and staff appreciation lunch on May 15. Register for both events or just one of the events. There are both in-person and virtual options for the conference.

The professional development conference theme is Exploring Kansas City. UMKC is proud to have Kansas City as our classroom; we welcome conference participants to wear their favorite Kansas City gear on May 15.

A complimentary UMKC shuttle, courtesy of the Health Sciences Campus Deans, will be provided to UMKC staff during the staff appreciation lunch from 11:15 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. This shuttle will run continuously, with pick up at 2 Health Sciences Campus locations: (1) Charlotte Street between the School of Medicine and Health Sciences Building, and (2) School of Dentistry and 25th St. The Volker Campus pickup/drop-off location is in front of the Student Union. The priority registration deadline is May 9 for both the conference and lunch. Registration will remain open after the priority deadline; however, after May 9, lunch is not guaranteed. Register today using this link.

Campus Drive Collecting Donations at Professional Development Conference

Academic Support and Mentoring (ASM), the Dr. Raj Bala Agrawal Care Center, and the Professional Wardrobe Studio will be collecting donations at the May 15 Staff Council Professional Development Conference.

Items requested include:

ASM School Supply Drive: school supplies including notebooks, note cards, pens and pencils, post-it notes, and highlighters.
Care Center: canned fruit and meat, dry pasta, ramen noodles, breakfast items, canned coup, peanut butter and jelly, granola bars, and boxed meals.
Professional Wardrobe Studio: women's expressive blazers (all sizes), men's expressive dress shoes (all sizes), travel size deodorant, laundry pods.

If you are unable to attend the conference and/or lunch, please reach out to Laura Moore and Destiny Delgado Peterson to arrange a time for drop-off.

Staff Council Staff Appreciation Week: May 13-17

UMKC Staff Council Staff Appreciation Week takes place May 13-17. The purpose of this appreciation week is to celebrate our hardworking UMKC staff.

We invite all UMKC staff to attend our events, including our signature Staff Appreciation Lunch (happening on the same day as the Staff Council Professional Development Conference). Learn more on the Staff Council Staff Appreciation Week website.

All are welcome at UMKC Staff Council meetings. Meetings generally occur the first Wednesday of every month (unless otherwise noted), from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in-person and via Zoom.
