U.K. Post Office in fight to save cash
The Post Office has launched a campaign to 'save our cash'.
“Around eight million adults have said they would struggle day to day without cash, with 1.4 million people not having a bank account and relying on cash to survive. 55% of cash-accepting small businesses deposited cash at least weekly, meaning they need somewhere convenient and secure to deposit their takings,” says the U.K. Post Office.

Seven financial and credit institutions have undertaken to double the number of localities with cash withdrawal within one year.
This will increase the number of ATM localities from 91 to 191 under the Memorandum of Understanding for Ensuring Access to Cash in Lithuania.

Cash Still Plays a Role in Everyday Payments
A recent study found that consumers still use cash for everyday payments as well as budgeting.
The survey polled 1,500 Americans to analyze their payment preferences and found 51% said using cash helps them budget their money, with Gen Z being the most likely to agree.
In fact, Gen Z respondents were the most likely to prefer using cash over other payment methods at 52%.

This is another attempt to protect access to cash for everyone, as it remains the preferred method of payment for many. In fact, despite the use of physical money declining, it is still the case that one in five older people rely on cash every day.
