What's up, humans? Wet Hot Austin Summer is underway! |
We're cooking up all kinds of live music, concert series, ticket giveaways and more to make 2026 the best summer ever. Check our Instagram for the upcoming kickoff video that I will neither confirm nor deny that I have significant screen time in. All I can say is I have recently forfeited my dignity for the continued success of public radio.
In other news, Soundfounder is having an equally exciting, but significantly more dignified, week in his radio career: NPR Music just reached out to him to talk about Boards of Canada's new record on their New Music Friday Podcast! A much deserved invitation to the radio big stage for our very own authority on electronic music (and resident Boards of Canada super fan).
By the way, if you'd like to give him some props in person, the best show to go to tonight is 100% Exploded Drawing LXVII at dadaLab – it's Soundfounder and Butcher Bear's long running (the longest, in fact) electronic music event series and tonight is the first session of 2026. It's $5, it's at an amazing space to see live music, and the lineup is stacked, as always, with Austin's best electronic and experimental musicians.

P.S. We couldn't bring you these events and stories about music without our financial supporters. If you're already a member, thank you. If you'd like to become one, here's how to donate and support KUTX.

EddieAngel finds himself at the forefront of a new wave of R&B artists reshaping the sound of alternative soul in Austin and beyond. Fronted by singer-songwriter and seasoned vocalist Angel Estrada, the project has steadily built momentum through emotionally grounded lyricism and a growing local fanbase. Alongside him, the band consists of core members Marc Rene on guitar, Enrico De Cesare Leite on bass, Seth Sevilla on keys, and James Navarro on drums.
Following the international streaming success of his 2025 release “Holding On” with Tobias Lund, EddieAngel brings forth a new chapter with the CHICANO BLUES EP. Its lead single, “PAYASO,” led to an official SXSW debut, plus support from the legendary Grupo Fantasma, positioning Estrada as a rising voice fueled by deeply personal penmanship, all thoughtfully rooted in the Mexican experience as a native Austinite.
EddieAngel's Studio 1A performance will be up at kutx.org soon, and CHICANO BLUES is out on June 18th. Keep an eye out for more details on the album release show over at EddieAngel's instagram. While we wait, dig in to his My KUTX guest DJ Set.

For her 21st birthday in 1953, Pauline Oliveros received a special gift from her mother: A tape recorder.
Oliveros would become among the most important pioneers of electronic music, co-founding the San Francisco Tape Music Center, and continuously exploring new ways of thinking about and creating music until her death in 2016.

On this episode of This Is My Thing, we’re talking with Yael Ouzillou about her love of doodling. It's a practice she took up several years ago; she draws colorful and intricate designs, patterns and pictures to process events in her life and the world around her.

The co-founder of Lazyface, Dr. Steven Kent, was seeing too many guys from his five-to-nine in his nine-to-five. So he created a sunscreen he’d recommend to any clinical patient (mineral-based, streak-free, no whitecast).
Lazyface starts protecting you the moment you put it on (no need to wait 15 minutes), and doesn’t absorb into the skin (like chemical sunscreens), which makes it less likely to cause irritation or acne. (Because who wants that?)
Think of Lazyface as a one-step, idiot-friendly, whole-of-face skincare routine for dummies. Or joggers, bikers, hikers, golfers, boaters, rowers, swimmers, tubers, floaters, and soakers.
