Summer Thesis Presentations Tonight!
This evening, September 8th starting at 4:30pm, PT, please join us in celebrating our summer MES graduates, Megan Bungum and Tim Atkinson, as they present their original thesis research projects in a virtual public presentation! MES is Hiring a Program Assistant
MES has opened up the Program Assistant position to support the administrative work in MES. The Program Assistant works directly with myself to carry out the necessary duties of supporting our graduate program in collaboration with our Director, Kevin Francis, and Outreach and Communications Assistant, Kris Hill. This is a part-time, work study eligible position which may be carried out remotely, hybrid (remote and in-person), or fully in-person depending on the needs of the student in the position. You must plan to be enrolled during the 2021-2022 academic year in at least 2 graduate credits per quarter to apply.
If you are interested, please submit a resume and cover letter describing your interest in the position and the ways your experiences will inform your ability to carry out the work described in the attached position description. MES Walking Tours of Evergreen's Olympia Campus
During Orientation week, Kris Hill, our Outreach and Communications Assistant, and I will host in-person walking tours for all students in MES! We know that many of you have never been to Evergreen or have had limited experiences on campus during your time in the program, and we wanted to provide opportunities to help you all get acquainted with the offices on campus, and locations of important spaces such as the library, bookstore, classrooms, and the MES Office wing. Please feel free to register for a walking tour at one of the scheduled times listed on our Eventbrite registration page!

Evergreen Pop-up Food BankThe Evergreen Pop-up Food bank is available the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.

We follow COVID safety protocols, so please wear a mask. Vegan options are available.
Other food options on campus:
The Food Pantry has moved from Police Services to the Housing Community Center, and is accessible to students living on and off campus.
The Hungry Greener Program allows students in campus housing to apply for a limited number of free meals in the Greenery, or in their rooms if they are in isolation or quarantine. Apply to receive meals or donate meals.

Tomorrow's weekly Thursday afternoon email to subscribers will contain many great job opportunities for current students and alumni to apply for, such as the Native Creative Development Grant through the Longhouse Education and Cultural Center at Evergreen:
- Native Creative Development Grant
The Native Creative Development Program Grant cycle is open for Native artists living in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Any artist who would like technical assistance on their applications may seek it from the Longhouse staff from project review to application review.
The applications will be reviewed and awarded by the Longhouse Advisory board comprised of Native artists and scholars. The grant is very competitive. The strongest applications include work samples that reflect your grant project request. For example, if you want to work in fine metals, your work samples should include artwork in fine metals.The grants are designed to support individual Native artists. This an opportunity for you to think about what you need to improve your individual artistic practice. The due date for consideration for the grant is Friday, October 15th, 2021.
Applicants must be American Indian, Alaska Native or Native Hawaiian residing in Washington,Oregon, Idaho or Montana. Grant applications for all forms of visual arts accepted. Literary, performance, and media arts with a focus on visual arts will also be considered. Grant recipients will each be awarded from $2,500 to $5,000 for individual grantees and up to $6,000.00 apprentice/master grantees.
