Welcome all Miamians and members of the local community to the Commemorative Opening of the International Student Center! Come to the parking lot of MacMillan Hall today from 3-5pm for a variety of global snacks and treats (baklava, Turkish delight, red bean cake, rice crakers, sparkling juice, a variety of teas, and more). Inside MacMillan Hall 017 there will be a photo booth, trivia contest (win prizes), commemorative signing, ceremonial tree planting and opportunity to connect with Miami students, faculty, staff and administrators in the International Student Center. We hope to see you there!

Join fellow Miamians from all over the world on a trip to Butterfield Farm tomorrow for some classic American autumnal activities!
Cost for the trip to Butterfield Farm is $8 and includes: transportation, bonfire, pumpkin carving station, hayride and/or corn maze. (Please note: Those interested in carving a pumpkin will need to purchase a pumpkin, $5-$10, on their own.) All activities are optional. This is a family friendly event; children/dependents of international students and scholars can participate for free.

Please note that the English Language Learner Writing Center is offering expanded consultation hours in the ISC starting October 18 on Mondays from 1-5pm and Wednesdays from 12-4pm. The ELL Writing Center offers opportunities for multilingual student writers to understand and practice proofreading, self-editing, and polishing strategies as well as improve their English language skills necessary for achieving academic and professional success.

Maintain Full-Time Enrollment!

Mid-term grades are viewable today in BannerWeb, so if you are struggling in your courses and thinking about making changes to your schedule, please keep the following things in mind:
- You must remain enrolled full-time in order to maintain your legal status (12 credits for undergrads; 9 credits for graduate students).
- Do not drop any courses that will impact your full-time enrollment without talking to an ISSS advisor first.
- The final set of late-start sprint courses begin on Wednesday, October 20 -check the Course List if you are interested in adding a sprint.
- If you were approved for a Reduced Course Load for Fall 2021, do not drop any courses without talking to an ISSS advisor first.
- The deadline to drop a course with a W is October 25, and the university withdrawal deadline is November 8. Please do not withdraw without talking to an ISSS advisor first.

ISSS encourages all international students to take a moment to think of a staff member at Miami who has supported your experience here.
Miami staff are also able to submit nominations for this award.

Please note that faculty (professors/instructors), student workers, and employees from Global Initiatives,International Admissions, American Culture and English, and the English Language Center are NOT eligible for this award. Eligible staff may include, but are not limited to, those who work in: Residence Life, Dining, Campus Services, Libraries, One Stop, Rinella Learning Center, Student Success, police department and safety, health center, a department's office, academic advising, athletics and others supporting international students outside the classroom.

- Are you interested in reading a children's book from your home country to local kids? Join Global Storytelling at Mini U! The International Education Week Committee is looking for international students who would be interested in going to Mini University (the campus daycare and preschool) to read a story from your home country on Tuesday, November 16 from 10-11am. Interested students should reach out to Karla at guinigkm@miamioh.edu.
