MAG HONORS ALLIANT QUALITY VP/CMO FOR HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS 
ATLANTA – Adrienne Mims, M.D., MPH, FAAFP, AGSF, the vice president and chief medical officer of Medicare Quality Improvement for Alliant Health Solutions, was honored with the Medical Association of Georgia’s Jack A. Raines Humanitarian Award during a ceremony that took place during MAG’s 164th House of Delegates meeting on Jekyll Island on October 21. The award is given to physicians who make outstanding humanitarian contributions beyond the normal practice of medicine.  
In his nomination letter, Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP) President Loy D. “Chip” Cowart, M.D., FAAFP, explained that, “Dr. Mims’ community service and humanitarian efforts span years and includes her work on a disease state management steering committee, well women’s work group, influenza and pneumococcal work group, and an interdisciplinary prevention committee to name a few.”
Dr. Cowart added that, “Her ongoing efforts to lead teams to provide disease management services for Medicare patients across the state and collaborate on quality improvement best practices shows her dedication to the patients that we serve. Her dedication to facilitating meaningful quality improvement projects is a driving force for Dr. Mims.”
Dr. Mims has volunteered her time in local women’s and geriatric clinics, and she serves on the boards of several community-based organizations – including the Center for Black Women’s Wellness, the Georgia Alzheimer’s Association, the Georgia POLST Collaborative Advisory Board, the North Carolina Quality Center Board of Trustees, and the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement.
The long-time MAG member has received a number of honors, including the Georgia State Medical Association’s 2018 Presidential Commendation for Outstanding Service, the 2012 Healthcare Heroes Award from the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority, and the 2009 Health Champion Award from the Center for Black Women’s Wellness.
Dr. Cowart concluded that, “Dr. Mims is a true humanitarian who strives to bridge the gap between clinical care and community outreach. She is an asset to the medical profession.”
Dr. Mims is board-certified in family medicine and geriatrics, and she has more than 30 years of primary care, consultative, and home care geriatric experience. It is also worth noting that Dr. Mims worked as a medical administrator for 25 years. 
Dr. Mims has a medical degree from Stanford University.
Dr. Mims and her husband, Clarence Smart, live in Atlanta. They have a dog named Malcom.
