From Kabul to Tulsa
TU students, faculty and staff are undertaking an array of projects aimed at ensuring Afghan refugees begin safe, healthy lives in Tulsa. At the College of Law, for example, students are being trained to help Afghans navigate the complexities of seeking asylum. Caroline Bezner was motivated to get involved in that effort because "I want to be there to lift some of those worries off their shoulders by making this process more manageable."

Rockstar intern
Arts, culture and entertainment management (ACEM) student Natalie Dankert used part of her time as a music + writing intern with the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Art & Culture to orchestrate a vibrant Music Industry Panel at TU this fall. "ACEM's requirement to complete multiple internships and practica has introduced me to new people, taught me technical and interpersonal skills and really pushed me to jumpstart my career," Dankert enthused.

Boiling down natural gas
Last winter's sub-zero temperatures resulted in astronomical increases in the cost of natural gas, which led to powerful, unanticipated financial hits for small towns and cities across Oklahoma that operate as distributors. To help those community managers prepare for future challenges, the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group asked energy experts Tom Seng and Buford Pollett to design and deliver seminars shedding light on the natural gas marketplace.
