New Seating Activation at El Presidio Park

In partnership with Pima County, the Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP) is excited to unveil a new activation at El Presidio Park—complete with bistro tables and chairs for the public to enjoy on weekdays. Whether it’s lunch, a break, or a casual meeting, this inviting space sits beside the beautifully restored El Presidio Fountain and near the Southern Arizona Heritage & Visitor Center. Large umbrellas will be added in the coming weeks to provide additional shade. Thank you to Pima County for helping create another welcoming space downtown!

DTP Announces Additional Downtown For Everyone Grant Awardees

The DTP’s Social Justice Committee is excited to announce the additional awardees of the Downtown Tucson for Everyone grant program for 2025. This year’s program is co-sponsored by HSL Properties and the DTP. The new awardees include the Paulo Freire Freedom School, Blue Lotus Artists' Collective and Reveille Men's Chorus. Sixth Avenue Underpass Dedicated in Honor of Donovan Durband

Yesterday, family, friends, and City of Tucson officials gathered to dedicate the Donovan Durband Sixth Avenue Underpass. The underpass—now beautifully repainted with restored light poles and vibrant enamel panels featuring vintage Downtown Tucson postcards from Donovan’s own collection—pays tribute to his decades of passionate work to revitalize downtown. Special thanks to artist Steve Farley, Donovan’s wife Erin, and the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility for helping bring this meaningful project to life. Be sure to check out this new tribute and walk—or ride—through this historic downtown connection.
