Summer 2022 SIMS trainings held on June 7-9 with 27 birthing hospital & infant teams (19 Level I & II, 8 Level III & IV) from across the state, with 72 attendees at the HCA SIMS Center in Antioch. The meetings started with didactic lectures on “The Importance of Simulation” with Dr. Danielle Tate & Bonnie Miller, followed by talks on “Maternal Physiology & Resuscitation” with Drs. Tate and Connie Graves, and “Neonatal Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE)” with Patti Scott and Dr. Scott Guthrie (Friday). Simulations followed on shoulder dystocia, Maternal Code, Infant respirator depression & Hypovolemia. Skills stations included: PPV, LMA (Infant and Maternal), emergency UVC Placement, needle aspiration, cord prolapse, and MamaU utilization for PPLARC and balloon placements. 22 hospitals received MamaUs SIMS for their hospitals with Dr. Nikki Zite as the trainer (Tuesday and Wednesday).
EMS SIMS was held on June 10 with 9 EMS attending from 7 different departments. One EMS trainee reported utilizing the training within one week, saving the life of mom and baby.
