District 1 Town Hall Recap
On Feb. 18, Council Member Michelle Watkins held her first District 1 Town Hall, drawing a packed crowd at the Dr. Robert Shurney Legacy Center. City leaders shared updates on topics like the Northern Bypass, Bob Wade Lane, development, parks, public safety and the launch of Invest Northwest, a new business association. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the event’s success.
District 1 Drop-In
Join Council Member Watkins for a District 1 Drop-In on Tuesday, April 1, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Dr. Richard Showers, Sr. Recreation Center, 4600 Blue Spring Road NW. This informal event offers direct access to Watkins in a relaxed setting, allowing citizens to come and go while enhancing communication with their local representative.

Teen Career Summit
Today is the last day to sign up for the free Teen Career Summit 2025, held at the Dr. Richard Showers Recreation Center. This event, for teens ages 14-18, offers a full day of career exploration, interactive workshops, and expert guidance. Teens will learn essential skills, from job interviews to managing finances, for future success.

HPCAC Community Engagement Forum
The Huntsville Police Citizens Advisory Council will host a Public Listening Session on Tuesday, March 11, at 6 p.m. at the Johnson Legacy Center (6000 Cecil Fain Drive). This session allows residents to share feedback on the relationship between HPD and the community, helping to shape future discussions and strengthen the partnership between law enforcement and the public.

Terry Heights Cleanup
The recent Terry Heights Cleanup Day was a sweeping success. Green Team and 16 volunteers collected 55 bags of litter and helped beautify our community. A special thanks to Sigma Tau Epsilon Fraternity and Hope Community Church for volunteering your time.
Von Braun Center Tour
Council Member Michelle Watkins recently joined the Von Braun Center's Government Relations Committee for an introductory lunch and tour. The VBC hosts hundreds of concerts, conventions and events annually, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors to downtown Huntsville. These events generate nearly $100 million in economic impact, benefiting the local community and economy.
Beautification Award Nominations
The Huntsville Beautification Board is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Huntsville Beautification Awards. Judging taking place after Memorial Day. Submit your entry form and $50 fee by Monday, April 7. Properties will be judged on first impressions, originality, design, plant quality, maintenance, hardscape and litter control. May the best District 1 property win!
