Spring Staff Development Week 2024: Deadline for Presenter Submission Apr. 12

Call for presenters! UM System Staff Development Week takes place May 20 through May 23. Please fill out the Qualtrics Survey to submit a proposal. Most sessions will be via Zoom; you can choose the presentation format. If you cannot present and know someone who would be great at presenting a subject, please pass along the Qualtrics link.

UMKC Blood Drive: Apr. 17, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Join us for the Community Blood Center blood drive on April 17 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Help save the lives of others by donating blood. This blood drive will take place in Pierson Auditorium in the Atterbury Student Success Center. Register today on the UMKC blood drive website.

Earth Day Clean-up: Apr. 20, 9:30 a.m.

UMKC staff will be joining KC Parks during the Earth Day Clean-Up weekend. We will help clean the Brush Creek Trail, from Martin Luther King, Jr. Square Park to William Volker Memorial Fountain. A van will transport us to the MLK Square Park. Families are welcome - Age limit: 8 years old and up. Space is limited to 15 individuals. Register to volunteer today.

Volunteer for the AIDS Walk: Sign up before Apr. 27

As a volunteer, you will help guide walkers, hand out water, and serve as a resource throughout the morning. And because of your support, you will also receive a volunteer t-shirt! Volunteer shifts will be from 9:30 a.m. until noon.

2024 Staff Professional Development

Conference and Appreciation

Lunch: May 15, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The Staff Council Professional Development Conference is happening on May 15 on the Volker Campus and virtually via Zoom. Join us as we explore the classroom that is Kansas City. Learn from colleagues and community partners in topics like engagement, leadership, and wellness, and learn all about Kansas City. You won’t want to miss our Keynote Speaker, Former Chiefs Player Emmanuel Smith. This year’s professional development conference will include the annual staff appreciation lunch, where staff can network and enjoy a free lunch together. Register by May 9.

Campus Drive Collecting Donations at Professional Development Conference: May 15

First Gen Roo, the Dr. Raj Bala Agrawal Care Center, and the Professional Wardrobe Studio will be collecting donations before the conference. Contact Laura Moore for more details.

All are welcome at UMKC Staff Council meetings. Meetings generally occur the first Wednesday of every month (unless otherwise noted), from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in-person and via Zoom.
