Staff Council Voting Member Nominations Open: Nominate a Colleague or Self-Nominate

Staff Council is composed of 32-50 voting members, each serving 2-year terms. Voting members are crucial to fulfilling Staff Council’s mission/goals. We are looking for our newest group of voting members and need your help. Nominate a friend/colleague today.
Staff Council voting member nominations open Sept. 9. The deadline to submit a nomination is Oct. 1 by 4:59pm CT. Nominate a colleague or friend; self-nominations are also welcomed. Learn more and nominate using the Staff Council nominations form.
For each nomination form, nominators will be entered into a raffle for some amazing prizes. Each nominator can earn up to 3 raffle entries, but can nominate more than 3 people if desired. Raffle prizes include:
  • Stay cozy basket: UMKC blanket, stocking cap
  • Express-o yourself basket: Local coffee beans, reusable coffee mug, adult coloring book
  • Shop 'til you drop basket: Target gift card, reusable shopping bag, shopping spree snacks

Lead to Read Children's Book Drive Ends Sept. 11

Staff Council Outreach Committee is hosting a children's book drive to benefit Lead to Read. Lead to Read's mission is to support the social, emotional, and reading skills that are foundational to student success by advancing its literacy platform and mobilizing community volunteers
Staff Council is accepting new and gently used children's books through Sept. 11. Drop off locations include: Miller Nichols Library South Entrance and Atterbury Student Success Center (ASSC) 1st Floor Main Entrance. Questions? Email staffcouncil@umkc.edu.

Virtual 5K webpage

2024 Virtual 5K: Sept. 21-29

Support the Kangaroo Pantry at the Dr. Raj Bala Agrawal Care Center by participating in this year’s Virtual 5K. 
Run, walk, or bike, anywhere, anytime Sept. 21-29. Submit your results by 8 a.m. on Sept. 30. The first 250 people to register will receive a giveaway mailed out after the race conclusion. There will be prize drawings in the following categories: student, alumni, UMKC faculty/staff, and friend (non-alum). There will also be a prize drawing all participants are entered into automatically.
Registration deadline is Sept. 20. Register today on the UMKC Alumni website.

Mark your calendars now for Sept. 21, at 8:00 PM, and join us for a showing of the hit Broadway musical Peter Pan. UMKC students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of UMKC constituent groups can receive 25% off regular admission tickets in levels 2-6 by using the Promo Code "UMKC" before selecting their seats. Tickets can be purchased now through the day of the performance.

Volunteer at the UMKC Booth for Boo at the Zoo: Oct. 26 & 27
UMKC will be hosting a booth at Boo at the Zoo Oct. 26 and 27. During the event, the team will pass out candy and UMKC items to trick or treaters at the Kansas City Zoo.
We are looking for staff volunteers to help run this booth. Staff will receive free Zoo admission. Sign up by Oct. 21.

Staff Volunteers Needed for Fiesta Hispana: Sept. 13-15
The UMKC Office of Admissions is hosting a table at this year’s Fiesta Hispana (located at the American Royal Facilities). This is a great opportunity to get involved with Kansas City Hispanic students, showcase UMKC, and answer any questions students may have regarding the college experience.
