Miller College of Business
Do you know high school students who want to start their own enterprises? For the third year, Innovate WithIN is accepting online video proposals from student teams of one to three through February 7. After regional competitions in March, finalists will be invited to Indianapolis for a chance to win a grand prize package, including a scholarship valued up to $10,000 to be used at any accredited in-state institution and up to $10,000 in seed funding to launch the venture. Middle school students (grades 6-8) can participate in Innovate WithIN Ideation Labs.
Innovate WithIN engages our youth and plays a key role in Indiana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing programming, pitching, and pathways to nurture the next generation of innovators. The program is just one example of how Ball State is committed to a bright future for Indiana and beyond.
The competition is co-sponsored by Ball State in partnership with the Indiana Economic Development Corp. and the Indiana Department of Education. Ball State also works with Small Business Development Centers to make the competition possible.
College of Communication, Information, and Media
This month, the College of Communication, Information, and Media’s showcase project is Match Point: The Rise of Men’s Volleyball—a documentary about the state of men’s volleyball across the country. The opportunities and problems within diverse and underserved communities are highlighted within the film, created by our undergraduate team from the Departments of Journalism and Telecommunications.
Match Point is also an organized, transmedia effort to bring awareness to the sport. Led by graduate students from the Center for Emerging Media Design and Development, the campaign features a website, social media presence, blog, podcast, and a volleyball gaming app. Sports fans have access to interviews with the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team, unique stories, and insight into the nature of the game.
