This year, the total number of undergraduate applications worldwide has reached nearly 24,000, a record high for NYU Shanghai. Over the past three years, the number of undergraduate applications has seen a cumulative increase of 47% for Chinese applicants and 18% for international applicants.

•  Assistant Professor Faculty Fellow of Political Science Qian Jing invited Dr. Sifan Xue from Peking University to discuss the economic impacts of the US-China trade war since 2018. The lecture gave an overview of the key developments in the China-US trade conflict and explored insights from academic research in economics, as well as the broader implications of this trade war in other areas.


•  Celebrated restaurateur and entrepreneur Michelle Garnaut was invited by Associate Professor of Practice in IMB Gabrielle Chou to screen a documentary film made about her and discuss her experiences as an entrepreneur, including building legendary restaurants M on the Bund and Capital M. 

“We can lower our anxiety response to climate change by becoming more mentally comfortable with uncertainty. And we can do that through thinking about and experiencing mud. Mud is ambiguous, it is messy, and it can exist in contradictory states at the same time. It can help us to increase our tolerance for uncertainty and therefore lessen potentially debilitating aspects of anxiety.”

Associate Arts Professor of IMA Marcela Godoy is looking for volunteers to do some fabric sorting/rescue with the lead of Usedem next Monday March 3, 1pm to 4:30pm. Dancers in Monday’s ballet workshop taught by Jiayong Sun explored the elegance of classical technique fused with the fluidity of contemporary ballet. Inspired by Lady White Snake, the session uncovered how movement can express emotion, transformation, and the fusion of Eastern and Western dance languages.

Shanghai Observer, Laodong Daily, and Huayu Education reported that NYU Shanghai has received nearly 24,000 applications from China and around the globe, breaking a new record this year.
