On Thursday-Friday, June 25-26, 2026, UIT will perform an IT security upgrade that may affect how some users connect to the University of Utah’s wireless network.
After the change, some devices may no longer connect to UConnect if they are six years or older and/or lack the ability to support WPA3-Enterprise, the latest and most secure encryption standard. If this happens, users can access the university’s network using eduroam and their U login credentials. They should visit onboard.utah.edu and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to eduroam.
The update affects main campus users in the following areas:
- June 25: Housing
- June 26: Main campus
U of U Health users are not affected at this time.
For more information about eduroam, please access this IT Knowledge Base article (login required).
If you have questions, your local IT support staff may be able to assist, or you may contact the Campus IT Help Desk at 801-581-4000.
Affected users have been notified about the change.
