Happy Holidays from the YMCA!

From the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA family to yours, we would like to wish you all a very heartfelt holiday season. We are so grateful to you all for sticking with us as members and program participants this year. As 2020 comes to a close, we'd like to remind you of all the very meaningful work that we were still able to do with your support this year:
  • Hosted dozens of free virtual group exercise classes for all Facebook users, regardless if Y-members or not.
  • Distributed a record number of Free Youth Food Program meals.
  • Delivered over 1,200 free Emergency Food Boxes
  • Provided safe options for kids and adults to keep moving through Outdoor Group Exercise classes and Summer Sports Camps
  • Offered high quality childcare for essential workers and families who needed it
  • Taught children swimming skills and drowning prevention through our Safety Around Water program
  • Created a Remote Learning Support program for families who needed it while virtual learning is in place for local school systems
  • Reorganized our YMCA to safely distance machines and equipment and upgraded our cleaning procedures
  • Added a reservation system for our members to book pool lanes, classes, and courts
Even during our government mandated facility closure, we were able to serve our community through our Mission to put Christian principles into place through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Thank you for helping make these services possible!
Consider Giving to the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA this Holiday Season
Make a financial contribution to the YMCA and help us sustain the YMCA's impact in Bay County and the surrounding community for years to come. Please join us in donating towards our Mission: Forward campaign and help us reach our goal of raising $300,000. This money will help us run the programming that our community has relied on: Free Youth Food Program, Before and After School Care, Childcare, Swim Lessons, Emergency Food Box Deliveries, Outdoor Group Exercise, Sports Camps and Leagues. It will also help us pay for annual costs and utilities that keep our building standing. Watch the video below to learn more about our impact in Bay City.

Stories of Impact

The Arsenault family have been members of the Y for years. They have always enjoyed visiting the facility as a family, from swimming in the pool, to dribbling on the courts. Once the pandemic hit, the Arsenaults did their part and stayed home. They were grateful that the Y began providing summer sports camps for kids in June. They signed their son Brooks up for almost every camp to give him the opportunity to socialize and get active safely. Please consider giving to the Mission: Forward campaign to assure that the Y continues to serve our community in any way needed.

Open Spots in Remote Learning Support!

We currently have spots open for students in grades 2-5 who need extra support or supervision with their online schooling. This program is available for all students, regardless of school, who are completing their schooling remotely. Our staff are equipped to help students log on, attend their Zoom meetings, and provide "brain breaks" throughout the day. Please remember, our staff are not teachers or tutors, but attentive caregivers who can offer learning support. Click here to learn more and sign up!
Virtual Group Exercise
Watch our Youtube Channel and Facebook page in the coming days for more Virtual Group Exercise classes! Our first release is Enhance Fitness with Linda Flues. Linda shares a great tip on how to add weight to your workout with everyday household items!
Group Exercise Classes
We transitioned back to outdoor group exercise classes in order to be compliant with the latest MDHHS Emergency Epidemic Order. This order is currently set to expire on December 8th, and we plan to move our offered classes back inside when it does. We will update our members about the group schedule once we receive more information. Stay tuned, and for now, try a class outside in our new heated tent!
Personal Training
We offer rates for seniors, one-hour, and 30-minute sessions. To get started, visit this page and complete the Personal Trainer Request form. Once our team receives it, we will pair you up with your trainer and you'll be able to schedule your first session!

"The Dow Bay Area Family YMCA is a great asset to our community in many ways!  Not only does the Y have excellent training equipment and classes for all levels, the Y also provides a safe, fun and inclusive atmosphere for everyone.  A healthy body is one that is strong physically, mentally and spiritually, and I believe you can find a combination of these at the Y!"

"I enjoy my job at the Y because I am able to watch the children in our room grow and develop every day. Plus, I am greeted by their infectious smiles and laughter daily! Secondly, I love our leadership team from Jim to Wendy and Julie. They are so supportive and hands on!
