As we spend our first fully on-campus semester together since early 2020, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate each and every one of you for all that you are doing to ensure our in-person teaching and learning plan stays on track; and share some exciting news about our fall enrollment numbers and CSU’s growing national reputation.
Everywhere I turn I see a strong sense of pride and satisfaction on campus that we are back in the classroom, in our facilities and walking our city streets. Together we are doing what needs to be done to keep us collectively and individually safe so that we can remain together on campus throughout the semester. Thank you all for doing your part.
Now about our momentum: Our overall student headcount is up this fall, and we have again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the #1 public university in Ohio for social mobility. And the continuing investments we make in ourselves are paying off - we are recruiting and promoting more faculty, attracting more students, investing in student success programs that help students progress and graduate, and advancing our unique “Engaged Learning” promise in ways that build our global brand.
As we move through the fall semester, we will continue to share updates and progress metrics as we execute strategic priorities outlined in CSU 2.0, with an initial focus on continuing our strong enrollment growth (essential to our mission and economic growth of our city), standing up and investing in our new colleges, and engaging all of you as we update and advance CSU’s campus master plan.
While we have more work to do to accelerate our ability to grow our campus and keep students engaged and on track, our continuing “momentum with a capital M” is worth recognizing and celebrating.
