COVID-19 Reopening Update: Friday, June 19
Hamilton County Schools launched the School Reopening Task Force to plan for the safe reopening of schools for the 2020-2021 school year on August 12. The task force that includes parents, students, community leaders, health professionals, teachers, school administrators, and district leaders will meet regularly over the summer to plan for the safe return to school. Hamilton County Schools will send a weekly communication to update the public on progress of the task force and make sure details are available well in advance of children returning to school.
This week the task force subcommittees met to discuss considerations for specific areas in the reopening plan. The subcommittees are Health and Safety, Operations, Academics, Support for Students, Staff and Parents, and Communications. The subcommittee members are a cross section of the School Reopening Task Force. To view the full list of task force members, click here.
The district received strong participation in our initial reopening survey, and will distribute a more in-depth survey next week to develop a better understanding of parent thoughts, concerns and suggestions regarding the reopening of school. The district plans to reopen on August 12, with expanded virtual options available to families, and this survey will give us more specific information about the structure that works best for teachers, students, and families.
The School Reopening Task Force will share their report with the Hamilton County Board of Education on July 2. The district will continue to provide regular updates leading up to the completion of the reopening plan and share the details of the plan throughout the month of July.
