Colleagues,
I know that many of you are among the Oregonians who lost power as a result of the winter storm that hit our region over the weekend. I hope that you all remain safe as we face yet another challenge.
In light of these power outages, we formally closed the university, including canceling remote and online classes on Monday and Tuesday. With the continued work by PGE to restore power, we have decided to keep the campus open today and to operate on a regular class schedule.
I am writing today to ask that you consider that many of our students lost access to power as well during this period and that they may have been unable to access or properly complete assignments. Because I know that you all continue to support the ongoing success of our students, I encourage you to provide reasonable accommodations for students who bring such concerns to you.
We are also letting students know that we will be extending by one week the deadline for withdrawing from classes.
Best,
Susan Jeffords
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
