Dr. Claudia Alexander

A decade later, she received the Emerald Honor for Women of Color in Research & Engineering from Career Communications Group, publisher of Black Engineer and Information Technology Magazine, and she was featured in a 2007 article in Black Enterprise Magazine." "James West, world-known acoustical scientist and inventor of the foil electret microphone, turned his childhood fascination with electricity into a career as a world-class innovator in acoustics at the inaugural X-STEM Symposium in Washington, D.C. on April 24." Madam C.J. Walker

"Madam C.J. Walker invented a line of African American hair products after suffering from a scalp ailment that resulted in her own hair loss. She promoted her products by traveling around the country giving lecture-demonstrations and eventually established Madame C.J. An accomplished biomedical researcher, she is also known as a savvy science communicator who helped reshape the image of STEM as former President Obama’s Senior Policy Advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and now as Founder and CEO of Fly Sci Enterprise, the innovative education and media consulting organization focused on using storytelling to inspire STEM learners of all ages.
