The Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP) is thrilled to announce our 4th annual Haiku Hike literary competition, a new Safe-T-Ride program in partnership with Pima County, and the City of Tucson's opening of Downtown Links East End. We want to extend a warm welcome to new businesses opening up downtown like The Kava Den, StretchMed®, and Thunder Bacon Burger Co. joining Donut Bar.

Downtown Tucson continues to be a vibrant community filled with many diverse, compelling events which can be found on the DTP website and in our Weekend Report, linked below. Save the date for the Agave Heritage Festival returning this April. The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation will be offering weekly yoga in Armory Park, starting this March.

Haiku Hike Literary Competition Now Open

Calling all creatives, writers, and aspiring poets from the Old Pueblo and beyond! The DTP together with the University of Arizona Poetry Center are proud to announce the 4th annual Haiku Hike literary competition. This year’s theme is Planting Seeds. Learn more and submit haiku here.

Four New Businesses Join Gift Card Program

Merchants and Retail Council Meeting Next Week

The downtown Merchants and Retail Council will meet next Wednesday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. on Zoom Meetings. Learn more about the Merchants and Retail Council here.

Pima County and DTP Partner on Safe-T-Ride

Pima County in partnership with the DTP is providing a new employee transportation program. Uniformed DTP Safety Ambassadors are available to provide transportation for County employees to vehicles parked in designated parking locations downtown. Watch a short video on the program here.

City Celebrates Opening of Downtown Links East End

The eastern segment of the Downtown Links Phase III Improvement Project is now open from the Broadway and Aviation Parkway intersection to Sixth Street and Stone Avenue. The new Maclovio Barraza Parkway includes a new four-lane roadway, streetlights, storm drain enhancements and connections for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. New Kava Concept Open on Pennington

What is kava? Made from the root of the Kava Kava plant, this beverage tastes earthy and slightly bitter by itself. When consumed, it gives you a mild euphoric buzz without being mentally impairing and promotes physical and mental relaxation. Agave Heritage Festival Returns April 27-30

The Agave Heritage Festival is a four-day celebration in Tucson, AZ, the destination for “all things agave.” Created to explore the cultural, commercial, and culinary significance of the agave plant and borderland culture, the festival features an impressive list of events with a strong focus on sustainability. Free Yoga at Armory Park

Join Tucson Parks and Recreation at Armory Park, 222 S. 5th Ave., Tuesdays from 12:30-1:30 p.m., March 7-April 11. Classes will be free for the first six weeks.
