NINTH WARD ACTION ALERT
PUBLIC HEARING ON PARKS FUNDING
Wednesday, April 13
10:00 a.m.
City Hall Council Chambers
As you may be aware, the City Council is discussing how to fund our parks system's long-term deferred maintenance needs. There are three different possibilities (read about them in this MinnPost article). The hearing in Wednesday's Committee of the Whole Meeting is on the "Goodman/ Johnson proposal" from the article which can be found on the City's website.
As I have expressed previously, I am absolutely committed to finding a solution to ensure that our parks are properly maintained moving forward but I think that we need to apply a strong racial equity lens to analyze where investments have fallen short in the past and how we will use resources to address these shortfalls. I also have outstanding questions about the fiscal impact of a plan that promises not to raise taxes while committing the City to $10 Million in yearly spending for the next 20 years.
Please come and share your opinion on Wednesday or contact my office at the number below!
