Big Sur Brooklyn Bridge!
Big Sur Brooklyn Bridge!

Greetings digesters!

The bridge is up and fall has fallen!
Indeed, on Oct. 13th, the new Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge was christened, and traffic once again began flowing into Big Sur from the north. (Our correspondent was on the scene; see below.)
And right on cue, there's a pre-rain chill in the air here at the Mothership. Our advice? Buckle up! Could be another wild wintry ride!
Buckled up? Good. Let's get down to business!

Love for Miller & Oranges in the Guardian!

In the Guardian's series Beauty and the Books, singer-songwriter Ella Hooper talks about discovering Big Sur and the Oranges of Hieronymus Bosch.
It’s just so spot on for me," she reflected, "looking back on a career and isolation and his process." Read the whole thing!

Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library Kickstarter Campagin!

Julia Whitehead started the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library in 2011 after discovering the Henry Miller Library online in 2008.
"I wondered why there wasn’t a similar place to memorialize someone as extraordinary as Vonnegut," she said.
Well, our favorite "sister Library" is having a Kickstarter campaign to help bring important discussions about loneliness and mental health issues to it's 2018 programming. Check it out.

Mapache, Kelly, and Abi? Oh YEAH!

Late October saw Mapache play the Mothership's first show in eons, Kendra McKinley and Kelly McFarling rock the Lab, & the return of VFL Abi via motorcycle from wilds of British Columbia!

While life hands you a storm...make tacos!

The 8-month Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge closure, was disruptive, costly, and harrowing. But there was a silver lining, namely, the birth of Big Sur Taco!
Situated in the Henry Miller Library driveway on winter weekends, Big Sur Tacos' Saul and Heidi serve up the best...tacos in...Big Sur!  (And I can speak from experiene. I ate 5 in one day!)
