With summer in full swing, RTSWS students and alumnae are diving into internships and early career summer programs. These experiences provide an excellent opportunity to explore various sectors within finance, build valuable career skills, and expand their professional networks.

In May, four RTSWS alumnae participated in an 8-day investment bootcamp with Highline Capital Management. During this intensive program, they developed both hard and soft finance and investment skills while working on a comprehensive investment project.

Highline Capital Management Founder and CEO, Jacob Doft, emphasized featuring guest speakers from diverse backgrounds as a key component of the program. He shared, "It is important to show young people that this industry is open to all who possess the motivation and skill to succeed."

In June, RTSWS Alumnae Stella X. participated as one of the scholars in the Girls Who Invest Summer Intensive Program at The Wharton School. 

During this opportunity, Stella attended panels with industry professionals, learned core finance concepts, visited Bloomberg and Vanguard's offices, and presented a group capstone project.

Additionally, five RTSWS alumnae were selected for this year's Girls Who Invest Online Intensive Program, a self-guided learning experience that allows students to build a solid foundation in core finance and investment concepts.

RTSWS has many students and alumnae developing essential industry and career skills summer internships this summer. This includes RTSWS alumnae Courtney H. and Devanshi S., who both recently began their internships with RTSWS sponsor Canyon Partners.

Courtney, who also participated in the Highline Capital Management Investment Bootcamp, shared this with RTSWS on her summer finance experiences:

"As a bootcamp participant with Highline Capital Management, I had the valuable opportunity to engage with Wall Street professionals, enhance my investment research skills, and develop and present a compelling stock pitch. Currently interning at Canyon Partners, I've gained diverse experience through various asset management rotations, deepening my understanding of career paths in the financial industry. I'm grateful to Rock the Street, Wall Street for providing me with these enriching opportunities as I continue to explore and refine my career interests."

Rock the Street students and alumnae are invited to participate in the 2024 Intern Collective Summer Event Series.

This is a series of in-person and virtual seminars with leading pension funds and investment consulting firms in the U.S., including University of California Regents, CalSTRS, Albourne, Callan, KKR, NEPC and others. It's an incredible opportunity for those interested in learning more about the buy side of the business and understanding the roles of investment consultant firms.The content is specifically designed for summer interns and new hires 1-3 years out of school. Students nationwide are welcome to join the virtual seminars with 2 hours of content, 30 min of networking per session. 

Schedule:

7/24: KKR, 3pm-5:30 pm PT

8/1: Albourne, 3pm-5:30pm PT 

8/8: UC Regents, 2:30pm-5:00 pm

Applications are now being accepted from female students ranging from undergraduate through 3 years post-graduate school. Applications close at 11:59pm ET on Friday, September 6. Scholars will be notified of acceptance on or before Friday, September 20.

The Eighth Annual WAVE Women in Alternative Investments Career Forum is an industry leading event to recruit and source the next generation of women in finance.

The objective of the Career Forum is to broaden the funnel of women into the alternatives industry and provide a setting where candidates can learn, engage, and network with industry veterans across a broad spectrum of careers.
