At its December concert in the Staller Center, Stony Brook University Chorale performed 'I Dream a World' - part of a 'Trilogy of Dreams' selection of songs set to the poetry of Langston Hughes (1902-1967). Hughes is considered one of the most prolific and powerful African-American writers in 20th Century American literature. Click here or on the image above to view and listen!

| SoCJ Unveils Strategic Vision Emphasizing Collaboration The School of Communication and Journalism recently launched a new strategic plan, Shaping Futures, that emphasizes collaboration in service of finding solutions to societal challenges. Explore the plan The Unique Challenges of Reporting on the 2024 Election WHEN: Thursday, Feb 22, 6 pm WHERE: Wang Center Theatre Join a conversation about the challenges facing reporters and media organizations in covering the 2024 presidential elections. Sponsored by the School of Communication and Journalism and the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Intercultural Activities, the conversation will feature a panel of reporters and media executives. It's free and open to the public, but registration is recommended.

| The Campus Beautification Committee and Origami Club are partnering in another great 'Cranes for a Cause' celebratory event you can take part in.
We're inviting all of the campus community to help fold the 1,000 cranes that will make up our latest piece of art (see image) - designed by undergraduate Ellie Lu as part of an origami flag design contest we held last August looking for artwork that reflects our community and values. So come have fun and snacks as we help create a new exhibit for the Wang Center. WHAT: Cranes for a Cause 'Crane-a-thon' Event WHEN: Wednesday, Feb 28, anytime between 1 and 2:30 pm WHERE: SAC Ballroom B WHY: Fun, snacks, camaraderie and playing a role in beautifying our campus!

| Three Minute Thesis, or 3MT® for short, is a spoken word thesis competition. 3MT is an opportunity for Stony Brook University graduate students to present their dissertation research findings to a general audience in just three minutes, with only one PowerPoint slide.

| The College of Busness (CoB) will soon be welcoming prospective graduate students to a series of recruitment events: The College of Business Experience. We will provide an opportunity to learn about applying for and attending SBU's MBA and MS Programs, including the Flex MBA, Online MBA, MS in Accounting, MS in Finance, and our new MS in Decision Analytics, the College’s first STEM- designated program. Prospective students will be able to hear from admissions staff, program directors and current students to get a robust picture of the graduate experience in SBU's CoB.
