Your insights matter for AI at PSU
Portland State University’s Generative AI Task Force is evaluating how best to integrate AI into our educational fabric, informed by faculty and staff insights gathered from the Generative AI Survey, opened to all PSU instructors in the fall of 2023.
Themes are already emerging from the survey: Our community feedback from the survey shows a call for comprehensive, ethical AI policies that safeguard academic integrity and promote transparency. There's a strong emphasis on AI literacy, ensuring that AI's integration into teaching and learning enhances rather than replaces the human touch. Early survey responses highlight the need for equitable access to AI resources, maintaining a human-centric approach that values personal interaction.
It’s not too late to add your voice! Filling out the survey is an impactful way for you to contribute to this important discussion. Your participation is key in shaping a strategy for AI that enriches our community's educational experience, with a focus on ethical use and long-term community benefits. Take the survey by April 30 to share your perspective!

Pedro Ferbel-Azcarate shares resources for a trauma-informed curriculum |
"Inspired by my experience in OAI’s Trauma-Informed Teaching Community of Practice, I have been considering how trauma is embedded in not only our pedagogical practice but in our curriculum itself. Through a critical lens, university curriculum may be seen to reflect, and drive, our trauma-based history and the contemporary social inequities that accompany it. A trauma-informed curriculum centers social justice and equity in its orientation, and provides learning goals which are inclusive, supportive, and potentially liberative for our students, and for our disciplinary approaches as well."

Seeking insight: A study on GTA experiences at PSU |
Are you a graduate student who teaches at PSU? If so, we need your input! OAI is recruiting participants for a study of teaching assistants' perceptions of their teaching, professional development, and inclusion at PSU. GTA participation would entail completing a brief 20-minute survey. Participation will be completely anonymous and answers will benefit the services and resources offered to GTAs at PSU.
Please note: This survey is for PSU GTAs. If you are a non-GTA instructor, please help us spread the word and pass this along to your GTAs!
