September 2020

AZPM Classroom
Welcome to the new school year, which I think we can label as one of the most challenging beginnings ever!  We want to offer our sincere thanks for all the work you are doing with our students, and we are here to support you however we can.

Whether it be tips for integrating PBS LearningMedia into your classroom, upcoming professional development opportunities, or content for sharing with your students, we look forward to continuing to support our educators, students, families, and schools. Please reach out to Cheryl Gerken if you would like to schedule a virtual PBS LearningMedia workshop for your school site.
At Home Learning

At-Home Learning Returns

As schools navigate balancing in-person and distance learning, Arizona Public Media is proud to provide meaningful media resources to support educators and families by launching a fall Learn At Home broadcast schedule. Curriculum resources, as well as supplemental resources and tips to help guide virtual and at-home learning, will also accompany the broadcast content.

This new schedule will begin on September 8 and continues through December 18. Programming with aligned resources for Pre-K to grade 3 will be on the PBS KIDS 24/7 channel from 6:00-11:00am. Arizona Public Media will also provide educational programming Monday-Friday for grades 6-12 from 12:00-5:00 pm. The weekday schedule includes specific blocks of time that cover subjects including language arts, social studies, science, and math.

This collection of video clips, lesson plans, and primary sources details key figures, events, and regional movements of the decades-long fight to win the right to vote for women in the United States. Students will encounter activists including Sojourner Truth, Carrie Chapman Catt, and Grace Abbott, and examine key regional efforts within the movement. Primary source documents offer evidence for a study of the chronology of campaign for women’s suffrage, from the movement's beginnings through the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
