Keeping Logger Pride Alive
When Katia Legasse started as an administrative assistant in the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, she was blown away by our community’s Logger pride. In a typical day, she answers calls and emails from parents and alumni about upcoming campus events such as Commencement, Alumni College, and the Young Alumni Career Conference, as well as regional alumni events happening around the country. One of her favorite experiences so far has been helping behind the scenes at this year’s Commencement Ceremonies and seeing the joy those events brought to graduates and their families. When she’s not working, you can usually find Legasse enjoying her extensive collection of classic movies on DVD and VHS with her fiance and her puppy, Daisy.

HACKS & CHOPS Asian studies instructor Lo Sun “Lotus” Perry and Andrew Gomez, associate professor of history, are working with Chinese Reconciliation Project Foundation President Theresa Pan Hosley Hon.’15 to shed light on Tacoma’s removal of Chinese immigrants in 1885. The trio discussed the city’s fraught history and their work in a recent segment for KING5.

Summer To-Do
All students are required to provide evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (a photo of your vaccination card) prior to the beginning of the fall semester, with limited exceptions granted for medical or religious reasons. Follow these steps to get it done:

Access the Communication Portal.
Click on Medical Clearances.
Find COVID-19 Vaccine, and click Update.
Enter the date(s) of your COVID-19 vaccine(s).
Upload an image of your vaccination card.
Click Done.

DOWN THE HALL Constituting roughly half of the Science Center at Puget Sound (along with Harned Hall), Thompson Hall contains some of the sneakiest and most clever installations of Science on Display on campus. Tucked into corners and hallways, and camouflaged in the floor tiles of each story of the building are artistic representations of science and math principles, including a timeline measuring significant geologic events in Earth’s history, a color-coded DNA sequence, and Pi converted into binary code, among others.
