Dear Colleagues:
The impact of Ball State University, and its faculty and staff, sometimes can be difficult to quantify. One way to measure this progress is to look at the funding and grants our University receives for programs, research, and endeavors aimed at helping others.
Typically, Ball State receives approximately $20 million in grant funding in a year. But already this fiscal year, Ball State’s Teachers College—one of our seven academic colleges, all of which earn significant amounts of funding—has been awarded over $6 million in grants. A recent $2.1 million Attract, Prepare, Retain Grant, award came from the Indiana Department of Education. Last month, Teachers College was awarded a $2.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) to develop and implement an inclusive approach to identifying and supporting gifted students with disabilities. Another $1.5 million DOE grant was awarded to Teachers College in August for Ball State to work with Muncie Community Schools on a new project, Civic Renewal through Education for Agency, Tolerance, and Engagement, or CREATE.
As impressive as these figures are, the meaningful part is knowing that the research funding and grant money will be used in ways that can ultimately support communities and change lives.
Below are a few more stories that I hope you will enjoy and then share. Let your friends and colleagues know how “We Fly” at Ball State.
