   FAFSA OPENS IN DECEMBER
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is provided by the U.S. Department of Education and determines eligibility for federal grants, work-study, loans and some scholarships. For 2024-25, big changes are being implemented under the “FAFSA Simplification Act.”
The new act will extend eligibility for federal financial aid and streamline the application process for students and families. It will improve access to Pell grants and reduce completion barriers for certain student populations.
Due to these significant changes, the U.S. Department of Education will release the 2024-25 FAFSA in December 2023, but has not yet announced the date. In future years, the FAFSA will be released on Oct. 1, as in the past.
Visit UNT’s FAFSA Simplification webpage for additional information or get help with your questions at Scrappy Says.
